LOMBOK

Lombok`s main city and former port actually is comprised of three different sections. Ampenan, the western part of the trio was formally Lombok`s main port and an important point along the well-known spice route. Its narrow winding streets are in complete contrast to the wide, tree-lined boulevards of Mataram, the administrative capital of the province. Making up this three some is Cakranegara. Steeped in history this part of town-the old royal capital until the beginning of this century is now a bustling trade center. Within this city of contrast there are many fascinating place of interest.
