Alfa Prima-Borneo

Previously known as Borneo for the entire island and Kalimantan is the name given to the Indonesia Portion, . The word Kalimantan is derived from an old Malay term means River Of Diamond or River of Germ, the world third largest island covering the area of 747.000 kilometer square and covered by one of the world largest stretches of tropical rain forest of which flows tremendous mighty rivers which are the island highway.

The Dayak tribes ,the indigenous people of Kalimantan were some of the fierce head hunters. Today , they are no longer collect grisly trophies, the men hunt with blow while the woman weave baskets of rattans using age oil pattern and techniques or together hack their fields out of the jungle, burning the brush to provide nutrient to the poor oil.

The Island is rich with many fascinating and endemic wildlife such as Orang Utan, Proboscis Monkeys, Gibbon, Argus Pheasants, Snakes including three species of flying snakes, Sun bears , hundreds species of birds including the Hornbill which play an important role in the Dayak Mytology. The exotic plants includes rare Black Orchird, Carnivorous Pitcher Plants, including the hard wood called Iron Wood and many more.
